Day 08
Hubbard’s Hills are alive…
I’ve been coming to Hubbard’s Hills since I was little. I don’t remember worrying about slipping from the top walk this much before though – the innocence of youth!

Slightly late starting today due to the lack of parking spaces at the south entrance to Hubbard’s Hills – we’d gone about a mile and half up the road and found nowhere else decent to park when we turned around and got lucky on our second pass!
A climb up the steps on to the upper level got the knees ‘working’ and we managed to avoid slipping off the higher track and down in to the foliage or river below! Down in to Westgate Fields and we pondered maybe having a little wonder in to the edge of the town centre but thought we’d try our luck getting to the other side of the River Lud outside of the main park – that didn’t go well, we got about half way round with no sign of another footpath and decided that going back the way we came was a good idea!
Once back in the main park, we crossed the river and took the low route about half the way back towards the car before deciding that the views were so nice from up the top we’d go and clamber up for another walk along the ridge. Not as muddy as we’d been expecting given last nights rain, but lots of leaves crunching everywhere!

“A new week, a new jacket! Thankfully the weather played fair and it was neither too hot nor chucking down with rain! Not sure how lucky I’m going to be over the weekend!”
